Ponggal is not only a harvest festival, celebrated by the Hindus, but also a festival that is equivalent to Thanksgiving, where families give thanks and blessings to farmers for their hard work and dedications. Not wanting to miss this significant festival, THR Raaga and Magnum have once again collaborated to make Ponggal 2012 as meaningful as it should be.
THR Raaga Magnum Ponggal Vizha! is one of the many benevolent initiatives taken by THR Raaga and Magum in giving back to the community. Raaga Unggal Nanbenda and Magnum THR Raaga Community Concert 2011 are last year’s meaningful charitable projects that had channeled tremendous efforts to reach out to those in need.
This year, THR Raaga and Magnum will be spreading the joy and happiness of celebrating Ponggal with the less fortunate children of Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Seribu Harapan, Shah Alam Selangor. Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Seribu Harapan is an orphanage, run by Mr. Munesswaran, who is also the caretaker for the 48 children, aged from 2 to 17 years old.
THR Raaga announcers will be celebrating Ponggal with the orphans of Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Seribu Harapan on Sunday, 15 January. The announcers will be cooking ‘ponggal soru’ (sweet rice cooked in milk) with the children of the home. Besides preparing ‘ponggal soru’ traditionally, THR Raaga and Magnum will also provide monthly supplies / groceries needed by the home.
THR Raaga Magnum Ponggal Vizha! Is a charitable move that has brought THR Raaga and Magnum together once again, in bringing joy and happiness to the children of Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Seribu Harapan.
