#ProjectMagnumHearts is back with two meaningful initiatives supporting children towards brighter futures!

Project 1:  Miles to School, Steps Toward a Brighter Future for Penan Children

For many Penan children in Limbang, Sarawak, getting to school is more than  just a daily journey. Due to limited access to safe and affordable transportation, students aged 7 to 17 may travel 5 km to 20 km each day, often walking along hazardous roads and areas to attend school. These challenges can contribute to frequent absenteeism and increase the risk of dropping out.

Helping Hands Penan (HHP) is a registered social enterprise dedicated to empowering the Penan community in Sarawak. Working with communities affected by poverty and limited access to essential resources, HHP strives to create better opportunities for Penan families, particularly through education.

Through this initiative, MagnumCares is supporting HHP by sponsoring safe  and consistent daily transportation, including school bus or van services, for 25 Penan students in Limbang for 12 months. The initiative will support to  remove both physical and financial barriers that may prevent children from attending school regularly by providing daily logistical support to approximately 25 primary and secondary students, helping them travel to and from school more safely, maintain regular attendance, and reduce the  risk of dropping out.

By supporting MagnumCares, you’re not just giving your ‘Hearts’ — you’re helping a child get to school safely, attend consistently, and have a better  opportunity in education. Together, let’s help ensure that distance, financial challenges, and unsafe journeys do not stand in the way of a child’s education.

Project 2:  Better Tools, Brighter Possibilities for Children with  Severe Disabilities

For children with severe developmental and cognitive impairments, consistent and specialised rehabilitation is essential to support mobility, independence and overall quality of life. Many require intensive therapy to develop and maintain important motor and functional skills.

The Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped (SSMH) is a parent-founded NGO that provides specialised therapy and care for children with complex developmental needs. The centre currently supports approximately 20 children and expects to reach more children through its ongoing collaboration with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM)

Many of SSMH’s existing therapy tools have been in use for more than 20 years and are no longer sufficient to meet current rehabilitation needs. Through #ProjectMagnumHearts, MagnumCares is supporting the replacement of essential therapy equipment to help therapists provide safer, more effective and targeted rehabilitation. The new equipment is expected to support approximately 12 children each day and provide long-term value to the centre, helping more children continue their therapy with suitable and reliable rehabilitation tools.

By supporting MagnumCares, you’re not just giving your ‘Hearts’ — you’re helping children with severe disabilities receive the specialised support they need to move, develop essential skills, and live with greater dignity and independence. Together, let’s give these children better opportunities to reach their fullest potential.
